“You are deeper than your eyes can see”: That’s a quote I can best think of which describes the point of this article, my personal experiences with concentration are the basis of this writing, and i believe those experiences are replicable to each and every individual.
The ability to hold your attention, to gain control over your changing mental space is a soothing experiences, a healing one, there are many ways to hold your attention and many places to do it, all varying in difficulty, one thing that I enjoy doing is holding my attention onto experiences, this holding of attention is called concentration, prolonged concentration is often termed as meditation.
I personally concentrated on the experience of staring death just before it occurs, the very details of it, the intricacy of death, the minute feelings that might arise during death, the feeling of lifelessness, the weakness and the void, the thought that rush through once you face natural death and the very moment before it, a privilege today, the time when you’re damn sure that this is your last, this is end approaching, game over, nothing else to look upon in future, in fact no future here for sure.
During this experience it became very clear, every major religious text and each word illuminated themselves, and the ability to look through them and the potential thought behind them and hence the desire to inculcate their teachings in your life followed through. Concentration was the one thing that made it possible, it is hence the giver of ecstasy and of bliss. And hence I must say : “Concentration is like a sharp needle which tears through the sheaths of illusion to illuminate the truth.”
